Foster's Lager has been imported into the UK from Australia in its distinctive blue, white and gold cans since the early 1970s.

In Britain, the Courage brewing group was, acquired in 1986 by Australian businessman John Elliott. Perceiving the increasing popularity of imported Foster's Lager, it was decided to commence local brewing of the product by Courage.

In 1887, when Fosters was, first brewed, most beers was served at room temperature because that is how it was, done in the colder climes of Britain. Brothers William and Ralph Foster, founders of Foster's beer, correctly deduced that their fellow Australians would enjoy a cold beer in that warm climate.
