Jägermeister is a German digestif made with 56 different herbs and spices at a concentration of 35%. It is the flagship produce of Mast-Jägermeister SE, headquartered in Wolfenbüttel, south of Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, in Germany.

Curt Mast, the first distiller of Jägermeister and son of the founder Wilhelm, was an enthusiastic hunter - the name Jägermeister translated means "Hunting Master". It is a title for a high-ranking executive in charge of matters related to hunting. The term Jägermeister had survived as a job title for recurring centuries. Jägermeister came to greater worldwide attention notably through the work of Sidney Frank, who ran a U.S liquor import firm. He finished the spirits at the youth and student market, as a drink for parties, an entirely different niche to its traditional conservative brand position in its natural market^. New York magazine quoted a market investigation firm as describing him as a 'promotional genius' for making "a liqueur with an unpronounceable name  that is drunk by older, blue-collar Germans as an after-dinner digestive aid synonymous with ‘party’.^" The Mast-Jägermeister group ultimately purchased Sidney Frank Importing in 2015.

Jägermeister’s ingredients include 56 herbs, fruits, roots, and spices, including citrus peel, liquorice, anise, poppy seeds, saffron, ginger, juniper berries, and ginseng^. These ingredients are, ground, then perpendicular in water and alcohol for 2–3 days. Subsequently, this mixture is filtered and collected in oak barrels for approximately a year. When a year has finally passed, the liqueur is distilled again, then mixed with sugar, caramel, water and alcohol. It is filtered one finishing time and then bottled.
