During early 1820 an entrepreneur by the name of William Wright decided to set up a tobacco factory in Craigshill, Livingston.
His business expanded and earned Wright and his family a very comfortable fortune. John Player decided to purchase the business during 1877 and so, John Player & Sons was formed and the manufacturing was moved to Nottingham. During 1901 the company merged with Imperial Tobacco, which goes by the name of Imperial Brands.
